It's always tough being the kid with a thrown together Halloween costume, but I sure was it. Pretty princess? Check. Giant Daisy Duck? Aww yeah. Awkward kid in a winter jacket and cat ears? BEST COSTUME EVER.
- Sarah
This isn't a Halloween costume, but I thought it was much much scarier! This is a photo from my professional dance days... you know, when I flailed around stage in my tap shoes thinking "I am the best ever dancer there ever was!". What makes this scarier than any Halloween costume I've ever worn is that bow and the frill on my arms. Nothing screams "pretty" more than bows and frill. Ahhh, I miss my glory days.

Bringing Color Me Mine to You! : Camp Squeah
This Saturday, CMM owner Viv, manager Crystal and plucky employee Sarah delivered Color Me Mine to the (awesome) teens at Camp Squeah in Hope, B.C. It was a blast! Armed with our salad plates (Bisque $10) and some bins full of paint, tape, stickers, stamps, brushes, bubbles and more, Color Me Mine was set up in the camp craft room.
Wanting to bring Color Me Mine to you? Visit the Color Me Mine website, email via the handy contact form, phone us at 604-847-9595 or swing by the store in Cottonwood Mall.
We had so much fun! Thank you Camp Squeah -- we can't wait to see the finished plates!

Canadian Geese Platter - Start to Finish
Did you know that Color Me Mine offers a number of techniques through our design center, included with your studio fee? Check out how our manager Crystal created this Canadian Geese Platter {Platter Bisque $43} from start to finish!
Start with the item you'd like to paint on -- platter, plate, mug -- this technique can be used on anything! Brush off any dust with our handy orange sponges and then visit our design center computer to find the image you'd like to use. Once you find your image, size it how you'd like to in our Word program, and print if onto our special NCR paper.
Cut around the shape and leave some white space showing. Trace the outline of the image with a pencil -- the pencil line will show behind the paper and be transferred onto the piece.
That's it! Leave your piece with us and we'll put it through our kiln process, and you'll be able to take home or gift a truly lovely piece.

Next, paint black (#31) onto the back and the rim. If you use one of our fan brushes, you're more likely to get the even coat you're looking for.
Using a writer bottle, fill in the black silhouettes of the flying geese and dry brush Copper Aventurine onto the rim. Copper Aventurine is one of our elements and sells for $3.00 per ounce. Lightly brush the copper onto the back black as well. Finish with a brushing of another element, Sandstorm ($3) over the top.
